Why our vegetarian afternoon tea isn’t an afterthought
We’re often told that vegetarian afternoon tea can feel like a compromise — usually a variation on cheese and pickle, with little thought beyond that.
That’s something we’ve always wanted to avoid at The Artea Room. When we create a vegetarian afternoon tea, we treat it as its own experience, not a version with items removed.
One of our recent guests summed it up better than we ever could:
“Usually, it often seems that people cannot cope with the idea of an afternoon tea without meat… But not here… so much more besides… all to a high standard… the best afternoon tea we have had in many a year.”

Feedback like this reassures us that the time spent planning, testing and refining our menus is worth it. Whether guests choose vegetarian for dietary, ethical or personal reasons, we want them to feel they’re getting something thoughtful, generous and properly considered.
If you’re looking for a vegetarian afternoon tea that feels complete in its own right, we’d love to welcome you.
