A century of smiles: Ada celebrates her 100th birthday at The Artea Room

There was an extra touch of magic in the air at The Artea Room today, as the tearoom played host to an incredibly special celebration — Ada’s 100th birthday! 🎂✨

A familiar face to the team and a much-loved regular, Ada chose to mark her remarkable milestone surrounded by friends, family, and the friendly faces she’s come to know so well at the tearoom.

“It was such an honour to have Ada celebrate her 100th birthday with us,” said Joanne, co-owner of The Artea Room. “She’s been coming here for a long time, and it felt really special to see her smiling and chatting with everyone. The room was full of laughter, and it reminded us exactly why we love what we do.”

The tearoom was alive with the gentle hum of conversation, clinking teacups, and the sweet scent of freshly baked scones. Guests tucked into tiered stands of homemade treats, from delicate cakes to warm, fluffy scones — all served with the care and attention The Artea Room is known for.

“It’s days like this that make all the effort worthwhile,” added Alan, who co-owns the tearoom with Joanne. “Seeing people come together to celebrate such a special occasion — and knowing we could play a small part in it — means a lot to us and the team.”

Alongside Ada’s celebration, the tearoom also welcomed another birthday gathering and plenty of lunchtime visitors, making it one of those busy, joy-filled days that the team thrives on.

As the final teacups were washed and the tables reset for tomorrow, Joanne reflected, “We’ve left everything ship-shape and ready for another day of doing what we love — serving our lovely customers. Whether it’s a milestone celebration or just a quiet cuppa, we’re always so grateful for the warmth and support our community shows us.”
